Description: The course starts at the top of Aptos Creek Road, in front of the small shops by the dirt parking lot. We follow the road into the park, where it turns into a dirt fire road, and continue for a total of 2.2 miles until the trail head for the West Ridge trail. The 2.2 miles are fairly flat, so they offer a nice warmup before the main climbing starts. Once on the West Ridge trail, we stay on this main trail, climbing to almost 1,400' over the next 6 miles at the top of Hinckley's Ridge, before dropping down to the end of the trail by the West Ridge trail camp. A quick right on the fire road, followed by a left on the main Aptos Creek fire road at the Sand Point Overlook, and then it is another almost 7 miles of dirt road, climbing to over 2,500'. The last 1-1.5 miles to the turnaround, at the junction of Buzzard Lagood Road, Eureka Canyon Road, and Highland Way, is a nice downhill.
