Surface: Single track trails and logging roads.
Description: The course is constantly changing from trail to logging road and back and either climbing or descending. Most of course is shaded by trees. On a sunny day, there are some very nice views of Mary's Peak and the coast range, the Cascades and Soap Creek Valley. Very, Very challenging. All Up or Down, almost no flat areas. At least 7 to 8 climbs of at least 350feet. Biggest climb is 1,500 feet. Most climbs are steep. The course is 53% trail, 47% logging road. The finishing times would be much slower if all trail. Well trained runners can run the downhills very fast and make the time lost on the steep walking uphills. 2 years the course was bone-dry, 1996 and 1999. 2 years the course was very muddy, 1998 and 2000

Additional Information: Actual distance is 31.9 miles. Limited to 150 entrants. There is a one-hour early start for slower runners, who may be worried about the cutoffs. Course is a good early season tuneup for the tough hilly western 50 and 100 mile races.

Place:
Race begins at the Forestry Cabin in Peavy Arboretum. Travel 5 miles north of Corvallis off Highway 99N.

Course and Conditions:
This course consists of single track trails and logging roads in Oregon State University's McDonald Forest. The course will have 6,400 feet of elevation gain with scenic views of the Cascades, Coast Range and Soap Creek Valley. The high elevation is 2,178 and the low elevation is 390 feet. The course is 32.2 miles long. This is a very challenging course!

Aid Station:
Six aid stations will provide water, hydrafuel, energy bars and other food. Details will be sent in the confirmation letter! A post race meal is available as you finish, homemade vegetable soup, bread and fruit.

$30 includes entry fee and T-shirt. Must be received by April 1,1999. $40 late registration! Size XXL $2 extra. RACE IS LIMITED TO 150 ENTRANTS! This race is a fund raiser for the local high school cross country teams.

Rules:
Numbers must be visible on the front. 8 hour time limit. No pets on the course.

Awards:
Awards are given to the first three women and men overall and the first three women and men masters (40+) overall. Awards to the top 10% of the following age groups:
