The following is from the information sheet for the 1998 race

Relay race (two persons) follows the Ultra course. Leg one is 16.9 miles and leg two is 14.1 miles. Parking is free at the College. Those with RV's or camper shells, you can park at the College parking lot or in the desert at the end of street leading to the College. Race starts at 0700AM. New Host hotel this year. It will be the Carriage Inn. They will be offering a special rate for all runners of $52.00 per night. Phone for reservations at 1-800-542-6082 (mention ULTRA). Check in: Race Headquarters will be at Johns Pizza, 348 Ridgecrest Blvd.. Race packets will be given out from 4pm to 8pm Saturday, Dec. 5th or at the start at Cerro Cosso College on Dec. 6th from 6am to 6:45am. There will be a carbo load dinner at Johns Pizza on Saturday. There will four kinds of pasta, four kinds of pizza, bread sticks (all you can eat) for $5.95 plus tax. All drinks are extra. Dinner will start at 5pm still 8pm for those coming in late. The course will be marked with chalk and ribbons. Please be aware that you will be running through BLM land and should respect the rights of hikers, Mt. bikers, equestrians and runners you might encounter.

Aid stations will be stocked with water, electrolyte drink, cola, cookies, bananas, pretzels, vaseline and ibuprofen. Drinks will also be provided at the finish.

We are counting on good weather (cool to cold) but Mother Nature can bring in warm weather in the month of December. Be sure to carry at least one water bottle. Again this year we are happy to say, we will be the last stop on the So. Calif. Ultra Series schedule for 1998. All participants will receive a t-shirt and all finishers, a finishers medal. The time for the awards ceremony will be decided as the race progresses. Race results will be posted on the Internet (Ultrarunners list) and to Ultrarunning Magazine ASAP after the event. Will E-mail results to those with E-mail address. Those wanting to order tank tops, t-shirts, LS t-shirts and sweat shirts, can order when sending in their entry form.
