Course Type: Point to point; Start at park entrance on Southgate Rd.. Finish at summit.
Surface: Runners - 55% singletrack, 40% fireroad, 5% pavement; Mt. bikes - 5% singletrack, 75% fireroads, 20% pavement; Road bikes - 100% pavement.
Description: A race to the summit of 3849' Mt. Diablo, open to runners, mt. bikes and road bikes, where each takes a separate route and the first one to the top wins. Each contestant is free to take whatever legal route they choose to the summit but runners usually follow a 5.5 mile trail that climbs 3000' with no level or down. Mt. bikes follow a 6.5 route and road bikes a 10 mile route.
